FINANCIAL DONATIONS FAQ

Your volunteer time is very valuable and important to the Frederick Rescue Mission; however, it is not considered tax-deductible. If you provide a professional service to the Frederick Rescue Mission for which you normally bill clients/customers/patients, you may be able to deduct any expenses incurred. Tax deductions are also available for volunteer mileage at the IRS charitable rate. Please consult with your tax advisor.

The Frederick Rescue Mission consistently spends about 90% on our services and programs. Charity Navigator gives a top rating in this category to organizations that spend at least 85%. The remaining 10% of the Mission’s funds are spent on administrative and fundraising needs.

Yes. All donations can be designated or restricted for a special interest you may have within the ministries of the Frederick Rescue Mission. Simply write the special interest in the memo portion of your check or indicate your special interest on the donation page of our website. Currently, The Mission is not accepting any automobiles. If you have an automobile to donate, consider giving it to Second Chances Garage.

We can accept clothing, shoes, linens, food, hygiene items and seasonally needed items.

If you would like a donation receipt, you can drop off items off at our office located at 419 West South Street in Downtown Frederick, from Monday – Friday (9am – 4pm).

If a receipt is not needed, we have numerous “blue bins”, located strategically throughout Frederick County, as well as on our South Street campus, where you can drop CLOTHING, SHOES and LINENS. Our bins are identified easily by the bright blue color and Mission’s lighthouse logo. Click here for a list of locations.

Our Commitment to Our Donors Frederick Rescue Mission, Inc. will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ names or personal information with anyone else, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by Frederick Rescue Mission, Inc., from both online and offline donors, as well as information received from any electronic, written, or oral communications. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Rescued Treasures Coordinator

Carol empowers the volunteers in Rescued Treasures. Together, they provide clothing people need for themselves and their families. Carol also runs Crossed Bridges with her husband Jonathan. She enjoys playing any sport with a ball, crocheting, bike riding, and spending time with her husband and five children. 

“He who loves God must love his brother also.” (1 John 4:21) explains what wakes Carol up in the morning to begin a new day; being able to serve the Lord while working with people, whether it be administratively or relationally. She loves hearing the testimonies of how Jesus has changed people’s lives, especially because He’s done so much for her!
