Summer Enrichment Camp Employment Opportunities

The Frederick Rescue Mission (FRM) has positions open in their Summer Enrichment Camp (SEC) 2025 for a Director, Assistant Director, and Camp Counselors.

The Elementary Summer Enrichment Camp (SEC) is a Christ-centered, five-week day camp for children in 1st – 5th grades who are at risk for making grade level, lower income, or experiencing homelessness.  The Middle School SEC is one week and runs from June 23rd-June 27th.SEC runs from June 30th – July 31st, 2025, Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  There are two camp locations: one in Frederick and another in Thurmont.  Ten hours of training for these positions occur the week before camp begins.

Positions Available for Summer Enrichment Camp 2025:

The SEC has several positions available for 2025 summer camps.  We are seeking teachers/students interested in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology and Human Services possessing a strong desire to work with children 1st – 5th grade who are emotionally challenged, come from hardship backgrounds, or are experiencing homelessness. 

Director: $19.00 per hour

Qualifications: A love for Christ and the ability to relate simple Biblical principles with children. Preferably a B.S. degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology and Human Services. Experience in working with children 1st – 5th grades who are emotionally challenged, come from hardship backgrounds, or are experiencing homelessness. Able to pass a background check and willing to be fingerprinted. Three reference are required.

Duties: Responsible for the overall administration and schedule of the SEC.

  • Develop daily curriculum schedule.
  • Attend training and debriefing.
  • Responsible for the daily routine and safety of camp.
  • Act as liaison between the program and Administrative Director.
  • Responsible for directing and empowering Assistant Director, interns, and volunteers.
  • Implement weekly field trips.
  • Teach Biblical principles.
  • Serve as a mentor to children in the program.
  • Implement discipline and order in the program.

Assistant Director: $17.00 per hour

Qualifications A love for Christ and the ability to relate simple Biblical principles with children. Associate’s degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology and Human Services. Experience in working with children 1st – 5th grades who are emotionally challenged, come from hardship backgrounds, or are experiencing homelessness. Able to pass a background check and willing to be fingerprinted. Three reference are required.

Duties:

  • Assist the Director in implementing the daily schedule.
  • Attend trainings
  • Daily registration of students.
  • Communicate any changes or updates in schedule or regarding students to Director.
  • Act as daily liaison between the program and the facility.
  • Provide weekly and “as needed” communication with parents.
  • Compile and update emergency information for students.
  • Organize/maintain necessary materials in organized space.
  • Assist with discipline issues.
  • Teach as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor to children in the program.

 Volunteers:

  • Assist Director with orientation and management of volunteers.
  • Implement background checks on volunteers.
  • Ensure volunteers are abiding by SEC guidelines.

Camp Counselor: $15.00 per hour

Qualifications: A love for Christ and the ability to relate simple Biblical principles with children. Preferably an Associate’s degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology and Human Services. Experience in working with children 1st – 5th grades who are emotionally challenged, come from hardship backgrounds, or are experiencing homelessness. Able to pass a background check and willing to be fingerprinted. Three reference are required.

Duties: Provides appropriate support to students under the direction of the SEC Director.  Monitor, assist, and provide support to specified students.

  • Attend trainings
  • Communicate and document student progress
  • Set up and adapt materials and equipment for use by student(s) as directed
  • Facilitate student progress toward independence as appropriate
  • Monitor and assist students during educational and recreational activities
  • Monitor and assist students in meeting goals and objectives
  • Fulfill behavior action plans for designated student(s)
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information

Rescued Treasures Coordinator

Carol empowers the volunteers in Rescued Treasures. Together, they provide clothing people need for themselves and their families. Carol also runs Crossed Bridges with her husband Jonathan. She enjoys playing any sport with a ball, crocheting, bike riding, and spending time with her husband and five children. 

“He who loves God must love his brother also.” (1 John 4:21) explains what wakes Carol up in the morning to begin a new day; being able to serve the Lord while working with people, whether it be administratively or relationally. She loves hearing the testimonies of how Jesus has changed people’s lives, especially because He’s done so much for her!
