A native of Frederick County, Sara Kephart recently opened her business, Sara Kep’s Kitchen. Her business is food – and she has options for everyone! “I do family-sized dinners and low-carb meal prep, and cater small gatherings and upscale private dinners,” she says. You can find Sara on Facebook facebook.com/sarakepskitchen and on Instagram @sarakepskitchen.
Just a month after she opened, Sara had an idea. “As a small local business, I knew I wanted to support an organization here in Frederick,” she explains. “So, for Christmas I sold dessert charcuterie boards with all of the profits going to the Mission. My customers gave me so much support that we got to donate $500! My heart felt so big and so warm!”
“I love that everyone is welcome to access services at the Mission,” continues Sara. “The staff is so friendly and goes out of their way to help people out. Some non-profit organizations want you to fit a certain demographic to get help, but the Mission helps EVERYONE. You can even come to the Mission for a haircut and a shower! Something so small can make such a big difference in someone’s life.”
Why did Sara choose to support the Mission? “The Mission does so much that I knew my donation could help countless people,” she says. “There are dozens of children here in Frederick that don’t have consistent access to food – especially now that they aren’t in school for breakfast/lunch they solely have to rely on having food at home. The Mission helps parents put food on the table for the entire family.”
And we are so thankful for new donors like Sara, who choose to partner with the Mission to love our neighbors in need. Your gifts go to work immediately, ensuring that our critical work in the Frederick community continues to meet those needs.
