Recently, I heard a great message for the times in which we are living. The main point was “If we don’t quit, we win!” With “faithfulness” being our theme this month, we need to understand what it takes to be a faithful person positioned to win!
Faithfulness is not doing the same thing over and over – no matter what. A rock or a dead tree could be considered faithful if that were the case. Hardheadedness, stubbornness, or never-changing could be mistaken for faithfulness.
To be faithful, one must be full of faith. That faith must be committed to something that requires faith. Faithfulness is determined by how one is aligned with what he or she believes.
For me and the Mission, we believe in Jesus. We have faith in His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His promises. Faithfulness is measured by how we align our lives with Jesus and His mighty works.
As we see our country being torn apart, are we going to align ourselves with fear-mongering media and opportunistic politicians or will we align ourselves with the promises of God? He will never leave us nor forsake us; He is with us and for us to the end of the age. The early Christians thrived under Nero who burned down Jerusalem and murdered those who would not say, “Caesar is Lord.” Neither Trump nor Biden will ever be as bad as Nero.
This month will mark 6 years since my wife and I lost our son Nathan, who was killed by a drunk driver. Each day hurts, each memory is a joy with a gut punch, and each birthday of his little daughter is a blessing beyond words but accompanied by the knowledge that she will never have a birthday with her dad. What do we do? We keep believing; we keep aligning ourselves with Jesus, His Word and promises. If we don’t quit, we win – now and for eternity! By faith, we all can have confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Heb. 11:1) Let us move forward in faith in our Victorious LORD!
