The New & Improved Rescued Treasures Ministry

 Last fall, we closed the Rescued Treasures building for a few weeks to address much-needed repairs, such as a new roof. After reopening for only a few months, we closed again – this time for a protracted period of time due to COVID regulations. However, we tackled interior renovations, designed a new method of operation, and continued to receive clothing donations from generous donors either on our campus or through Blue Box drop-offs.  

For example, Dr. Betty Morgan has made many donations, including an ample supply of professional women’s clothing that is particularly helpful to the women of Faith House. “I wanted to donate my clothes to an organization that serves women directly,” says Dr. Morgan, “and sought to benefit those who need help to get back on their feet.” 

Meg Yoho, ministries coordinator at the Mission, helped oversee the renovation of both the building and the program itself. The building is now open and shoppers will enjoy the fresh, clean, and spacious interior. But the program is operating differently now. “We want to love people in a practical way by providing for their clothing needs. And we also would like the opportunity to see and care for people spiritually,” says Meg.  

These goals shaped the way Rescued Treasures is now operating: by completing a request form and placing it in a dropbox (forms and dropbox are located on the front of the building), or by making a personal shopping appointment through our website, here: https://www.therescuemission.org/programs/rescued-treasures-clothing-program/. There is also a prayer request section that shoppers can complete to ask for prayer from Mission staff and volunteers. “We don’t want to miss the person right in front of us or what might be going on in their life, and this is one way we can make a connection,” Meg says.
