The Frederick Rescue Mission has been serving Frederick city and the surrounding areas for over four decades. Established as a non-profit Christian ministry in 1964, we continue our mission to meet the needs of the homeless, needy, and chemical dependent citizens of our area. We offer a life recovery program by bringing the life changing love of Jesus Christ to hurting and broken people - restoring individuals and families to our community with hope and a future. Our Mission Statement: The Frederick Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered ministry that provides a long term residential recovery program to the chemically addicted, food to the hungry, clothing and furniture to the needy. |
News and Upcoming Events! [Click link for complete listing]Thank You Chef Joe, Chef Rick, and SummerServe Teens! On August 5, eight teens dished out gourmet food to over 150 homeless and low-income men, women, and children at the Frederick Rescue Mission—food they planned, prepared and served all with the help of Chef Joe and Chef Rick of downtown Frederick restaurants Brewer’s Alley and Acacia, respectively. These teens were participants in Volunteer Frederick’s SummerServe program and were given what could’ve been a daunting task were it not for the chefs’ expertise and amazing attitude of service. The gourmet meal they created consisted of BBQ chicken salad, St. Louis-style ribs with yams and broccoli, and strawberry shortcake—all made from scratch. Chef Joe spent three days with the teens, giving them the reigns of planning the meal and using the Brewer’s Alley kitchen to teach them various cooking techniques, then aiding them, alongside Chef Rick, in the actual preparation and service. We cannot thank these talented chefs (and restaurant owner Phil Bowers) for the time, energy, and service they put in to creating a special meal for Beacon House residents and the needy community. The meal was delicious, but we will always remember their sacrifice of time and serving attitude—an awesome example of the Frederick community supporting those in need!
We Appreciate Our Volunteers Thank you to all the volunteers who made it out to our Volunteer Appreciation Cookout! The evening—at Pinecliff Park in Frederick—was filled with games, fellowship, food, and recognition of three outstanding volunteers. There’s one thing we know for sure: our volunteers aren’t afraid to get their hands (or their faces) dirty!
We are so grateful for every person who selflessly gives their time and energy to the Mission and those we serve. We hope everyone can make it next year for another fun event! Building Expansion PROGRESS UPDATE The Frederick Rescue Mission’s old backyard is looking more like a new building every day! After securing access to water, electricity, and gas lines, Sanbower Construction workers have laid cement, poured the elevator shaft, smoothed the parking lot, and are now laying the blocks for walls. Despite the record heat, progress is quick and steady, and the Mission should have a new dining hall, complete with indoor waiting room and upstairs classrooms, before long! If you’d like to get involved in our Capital Campaign to Change Lives, contact our Director of Development, Tommy Skaggs, at 301-695-6633 x 209.
New Volunteer Orientation
One Divine Vision
The Frederick Rescue Mission seeks to rescue lives from poverty,
homelessness and chemical dependency. We exist to meet the
needs of hurting and broken people while inviting them into the
abundant life Christ offers to all. Every man that enters
with a heart surrendered to God and a cooperative attitude
should never have to see a prison, jail, homeless shelter, rehab
center or rescue mission again. He should never have to
sleep under a bridge, in an abandoned house or out in the woods
again. A changed life will call on Jesus instead of
alcohol, cocaine, heroin, and any other kind of drug. The
goal here is to see lives changed for eternity, now and forever. |
